Privacy Policy

The short version

Weeks Left has no sign-up and no comment box, and we do not know who you are. We do not run our own analytics and we do not ask for personal details. We intend to fund the site with advertising served by Google AdSense, and if advertising is enabled then Google's advertising partners may use cookies to show and measure ads, which allows them to build a profile of your browsing across sites. Where consent is required, we ask for it before any advertising code loads, and declining costs you no features. Ordinary web server logs are kept by our host for security and abuse prevention. Who we are

Weeks Left ("we", "us") is an independent solo project published at weeksleftin.com. For any privacy question, you can reach us through the contact page — that page is the correct channel for exercising any right described below.

What we collect

The site has no contact form that transmits to us, so we receive no personal data directly. If you email us, we hold that message and your email address for as long as needed to reply.

If advertising is enabled, our advertising vendors will collect data. Those companies act as separate controllers for the information they gather, not as our agents, and you should read their own privacy notices rather than treating this page as covering them. Cookies and local storage

Weeks Left does not set cookies for its own functionality. Your theme preference is stored in your browser's local storage, not a cookie, and is cleared when you clear site data. No other value is written locally: your scope and elapsed/remaining selections reset to the default on each page load. These preferences contain no identifier, are not readable by other sites, and are not used to recognise you on a future visit.

If advertising is enabled, Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies as described in the Advertising section above. In that situation we would also record your consent choice in your browser so the banner is not repeated on every page — a stored preference, not an identifier.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent, and referring page — in order to serve the page, apply rate limits, and block abuse. Cloudflare may also briefly process this data to deliver the page and to provide their security features. We do not add to these logs, do not combine them with anything else, and do not attempt to identify individuals from them. Cloudflare handles this data under its own privacy documentation.

Fonts and other third parties

The page loads one typeface, JetBrains Mono, from Google Fonts. Loading it means your browser makes a request to Google's servers, which necessarily sees your IP address at that moment. If you would prefer not to send that request, the page still works with your system's default monospace font.

Other than the typeface above, the site makes no third-party requests of its own. There are no social media widgets, no chat widgets, no map embeds, and no analytics providers. If advertising is enabled, Google AdSense becomes a further third party, as described below.

Advertising

This site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. To support this, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites, and to measure ad performance.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings or the industry opt-out page at aboutads.info/choices.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we obtain your consent before serving personalized ads or setting non-essential cookies, in line with Google's EU User Consent Policy. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.

Consent and your choices

Where consent is required, a banner is shown before any advertising code loads. If you do not agree, the banner is remembered, no advertising script is requested, and the advertising vendors are not contacted at all. Declining does not remove any feature from the site: the progress bar, the theme, and every other function work exactly the same either way.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer. Clearing this site's data in your browser also resets your answer.

Advertising partners and data transfers

Google's advertising vendors are independent controllers, not our processors, and their own privacy policies govern what they do with data — see Google's Privacy Policy.

If you are in the UK, the EEA, or Switzerland, some information is transferred to or processed in the United States and other countries outside your own. Google states the legal basis and safeguards it relies on for those transfers in its privacy documentation. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — for example the ICO in the UK.

Retention

Server logs are retained only for as long as our host requires for security and troubleshooting, typically a short period measured in days to weeks. Emails you send us are kept only while the conversation is active and as long as afterwards as we need for context; you can ask us to delete them at any time. We retain no advertising or analytics data ourselves. Any consent answer is kept in your browser only. If advertising is enabled, data held by our advertising vendors is retained under Google's own retention policies, set out in its privacy documentation.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to a supervisory authority (for example, the ICO in the UK or your local data protection authority in the EU).

In practice there is little to exercise them on with us, because we hold no personal data about you. For anything that does exist — most plausibly an email you sent us — send a request through the contact page. If you are in the EEA or the UK and want to complain to a regulator rather than to us, that is entirely your right and we will not discourage it. Requests concerning data held by Google's advertising vendors must be made to Google directly, using the links in Advertising.

Children

Weeks Left is safe for all ages and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If advertising is enabled, we do not serve personalised advertising to visitors we know to be children and the consent banner is not intended for use by them. If you believe a child has provided personal data through a third-party advertising vendor, please raise it with that vendor or with us through the contact page.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only, and all content is static files with no database to breach. No system is perfectly secure, but there is very little here to compromise: no user accounts, no stored personal data, and no forms that submit information. If advertising is enabled, that code runs only after you consent, and is served by Google over its own connection under its own security practices. Note that a no-consent path is not an anonymity guarantee: any consent prompt and Cloudflare's security processing still involve your IP address, and your browser or network provider may keep their own logs.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change too, and the summary at the top of the page will be rewritten to match. Material changes will be more visible than a quiet edit.
